Put Your Back Into It (6:45)
Put Your Back Into It (Quentin Harris remix) (8:17)
Review: Second time around for Peven Everett's "Put Your Back Into It", which has become an in-demand record since it first hit stores 10 years ago. This official reissue replicates the track listing of the original pressing. Everett's original version is an undulating, soft-spun deep house delight, with the producer adding his own superb, soul-soaked versions to a backing track rich in shuffling, floor-friendly drums, warm bass and jazzy keys. On the flipside, remixer Quentin Harris gives the track a little more bass-heavy bump, employing slightly heavier drums and some rich chords, whist making more of Everett's impeccable Fender Rhodes work.

Push The Feeling On (The dub Of Doom) (6:33)
Push The Feeling On (MK dub Revisited) (8:40)
Push The Feeling On (MK mix 95) (7:07)
Review: The Nightcrawlers' tune 'Push The Feeling On' is one of US garages most iconic. It was a hit on dance floors and in the charts all over the western world and was also what lay the foundations for MK's whole career. The dub version he served up became a signature sound for the producer throughout the 90s and beyond. That original 95 mix is included here and has the yearning vocals pacing about the mix, the snappy hits and warm, fat drums rolling down low. A Revisited version tweaks things only slightly and the Dub of Doom version is the most chunky and paired back of the lot with a slightly dark sense of menace pervading the whole affair.

House Music Will Never Die (Glenn Afro dub) (7:36)
Review: For their latest deep dive into the world of hard-to-find house classics, Italy's Groove Records take us back to 1996. "House Music Will Never Die" marked Glenn Underground's first collaboration with vocalist Cei-Bei (AKA Curtis Harman) and has long been considered one of the Chicagoan producer's finest releases. Wisely, Groove has decided against tinkering with a classic, instead serving up all four mixes from the original Cajual Records 12". Choose between the classic deep house soul of the GU Cei-Bei Foot Mix, the wonderfully summery, jazz guitar-laden CVO Bismark Hotel Mix, Mark Grant's brilliantly evocative, stretched-out interpretation, and a killer Afro Dub that makes great use of a heavy analogue bassline. All four versions are top notch.

Open Your Mind (6:34)
Review: Italy's Groovin Recordings - based out of Milan's Vinylbrokers record shop, and dedicated to repressing some of the best and often hard-to-find disco and soul bits - have pounced at the chance to reissue and rework this gem as a 4-tracker. Taken from NYC disco band Kleeer's debut album, 'Tonight's The Night' is a classic diggers' disco divertissement. Now, it gets a thorough makeover. Along with the original version rounding this 12" off, Groovin have provided an extended version on the A-side. Two remixes come courtesy of the inimitable Dave Lee (fka. Joey Negro), who shines extra light on this tirelessly bright classic's rolling strings, divine choruses, wrist-slinging funk guitars and banging kettle drums. The 'Seeekret' mix is a standout: dubbing out the track to call attention to its laid-back moments.

Funky/Club House
From: Disco To: Disco (6:01)
From: Disco To: Disco (Tiefschwarz remix) (7:47)
Review: During the late '90s and early 2000s, Whirlpool Productions - a Cologne-based outfit whose members included exiled Californian Eric D Clark and future Kompakt regular Justus Kohncke - delivered a string of killer 12" singles that blurred the boundaries between micro-house, deep house, disco and Italo. Their greatest dancefloor hit was undoubtedly 1996's 'From Disco To Disco', a freewheeling affair that featured improvised vocals and electric piano motifs over a throbbing, Italo-disco style bassline and sturdy house beats. This timely reissue pairs a remastered version of the band's original mix with a later Tiefschwarz remix that's more druggy, undeniably heavier and laden with additional pots-and-pans percussion. It's a fine rework that compliments the untouchable original mix.

Changes (Dimitri From Paris Is Nightdubbin' remix) (7:52)
Review: There are few synth-boogie records better than Imagination's 1982 club smash 'Changes', an impeccable chunk of soul-fired dancefloor brilliance rich in undulating synth-bass, mazy high-register solos, echo-laden piano riffs, warming chords and superb lead vocals from the effervescent Leee John. This reissue not only boasts the peerless Larry Levan remix - the finest version of the tune by far, and subtly dubby in the Paradise Garage legend's typical style - and the dub style Instrumental mix, but also Dimitri From Paris's impressive, stretched-out revision that first featured on the 2009 BBE compilation Night Dubbin. Basically, this 12" boasts all the versions you need of one of Imagination's greatest moments; should you not own them already, you really should pick up a copy.

Review: Almost 22 years ago to the day, Portugese house DJ Rui Da Silva and British singer Cassandra Fox released one of the most iconic progressive house songs of all time 'Touch Me'. Releasing officially on New Years Day 2001, it topped the charts becoming the first Portugese and Progressive House song to do so respectively. Combining elements of Eurodance and turn of the millennia club tropes, this song could singlehandedly be attribute to the Eurodance revival that acts like Cascada would go on to proliferate later in the decade. A sensational club filler that stands the test of time, with an incredible B-side deep house cut with the 'Saffron mix'.

Review: This tidy two-tracker brings together a couple of sought-after gems from one of the true masters of neo-soul and soulful deep house, Peven Everett. On side A there's a chance to cop hard-to-find 2010 single 'Heat Up', a Clavinet-heavy chunk of organic, soft-touch, up-tempo soul meets deep house brilliance in which Everett's effortlessly slick and smooth vocals rise above rubbery bass guitar, heady keys and tasteful beats. Head to side B for something never-before-released on wax, the much requested 'Fantasy Eyes'. More electronic sounding but still loose, warm and organic, it's a similarly inclined chunk of dancefloor goodness that once again boasts some superb lead vocals from the veteran Chicagoan.

The Weekend (Glitterbox mix) (4:22)
Review: Capturing the carefree mood of the mid-00s in a dazzling burst of chart-topping funky house perfection, Michael Gray's 'The Weekend' remains an all-time floor-filling classic. The funked up filter house production takes its cues from the French trailblazers, but it's Shena's soaring vocal which makes it a perennial favourite, transmitting a message everyone can relate to about the week-long hustle and the joy of letting it all go when Friday night rolls around. This reissue brings together different mixes of the track which subtly shift the parts around without messing with the heart and soul of the track, while the Glitterbox mix shifts it down a gear to a slower disco strut which will sprinkle some crowd-pleasing magic over any warm up set.

Review: Rewind to 1992: Italian DMC champ Andrea Gemolotto and Alfredo conspirator Leo Marras collide for the first of three rare and seminal deep house exercises that have matured perfectly. The Mr Fingers-at-Bora-Bora trumpet-in-space sensuality of "Lose Control", the wide warm struts of the In Dub We Trust mix, spacious dubby reflections of "Night Clerk", the measured strikes and layered humanised stutters of "Nocturne Seduction"... Review: Mondee Oliver's 1991 gem "Make Me Want You" has been crying out for a reissue given the multitude of inferior house releases that have been released since the beginning of the 2010's. Even more special, Oliver was a prominent jazz singer decades earlier, but began to appear on dance tunes at the dawn of the rave era. This is one of those releases, a mesmerising house voyage that has all the right ingredients in the right combination - deep, humming bass tones, a hypnotic set of keys at its core, and exactly the right vocals to take it from sensibile to edgy. There are several versions on here, including an ace acapella for the heads. RIP Mondee Oliver.

Review: Serious house heads know that Hollis P. Monroe's 'I'm Lonely' is a stone cold classic cut. It's about time it got a proper reissue and that's what we get here courtesy of Groovin Recordings. The original is an emotionally intense one with streams of warming chords and deep, rubbery drums overlaid with digital sequels and a heart wrenching male vocal full of tenderness and pain. The DJ Decent Acid mix is a broken beat work out with lashings of lithe 303s and the Wamdue remix is more slow and bubbly for late night freak outs.

Review: Groovin Recordings is kicking off a new series in brilliant style here with three killer disco-boogie tracks. They were all first released between 1979 and 1982 and first up is Arthur Adams with 'You Got The Floor.' It's an uber cool groove with AOR vocals, loose drum funk and sprinkles of disco dust. There is more theatre to the soaring strings of Millie Jackson's 'We Got To Hit It Off' which has rickety drum loops and funky bass riffs. C-Brand's 'Wired For Games' closes won and might be the best of the lot with its coy male vocal, playful guitar twangs and nice raw claps.

Review: Alongside Sueno Latino's self-titled debut and Don Carlos's 'Alone', Key Tronics Ensemble's 'House of Calyposo' (and its similar but slightly different B-side take, 'Calypso of House') did more than any other record to define the Italian 'dream house' sound. It was swiftly followed by a lesser-celebrated remix EP, and it's that 1990 release that's been given the remix treatment here. It's led on side A by the organ-rich, classic Italo-house flex of the 'Remix' version, which replaces the familiar piano motifs with some fresh - but equally sunrise-ready - keyboard solos. The 'Softhouse Version' follows - think waves of piano solos bolted to a chunky Italo-house groove, before we're treated to the ultimate version of the track: the peerless, life-affirming brilliance of the rightly popular 'Paradise Version'. In a word: essential!

Review: In the 27 years since Delicious Inc's 'Eau De Chante' first slipped out on Underground Music Movement (U.M.M), the E.P has become an in-demand item amongst house DJs. This latest reissue, then, is very welcome. Stripped-back, bumpin' and bass-heavy, it sits somewhere between the masculine funk of Murk, the muscular thump of Sound Factory-era Junior Vasquez, and the rolling swing of Chicago house. The sassy, spoken female vocal comes to the fore on "Eau De Chante (For Men)" and "Eu De Chante (For Sex)", the latter of which is built around woozy loops and a more thrusting, analogue-sounding bassline. There's also a killer 'For Beats' version for those DJs who like to get busy in the mix.

Review: On its initial release back in 1995, this DJ Spen co-production was something of an underground club hit, with labels around the world releasing their own licensed versions. This Groovin' Records reissue edition of 'Everybody Be Somebody' effectively showcases the most in-demand versions. Side A boasts the original US extended version - a nine-minute fusion of crunchy machine drums, dirty bass, heady band percussion, lo-fi disco guitar licks and sweet female vocals. Over on the flip you'll find two European revisions from Mousse T's Peppermint Jam crew: his own 'Back In The Days Mix', which gives it a subtle disco flavour, more fully-featured instrumentation and some lovely electronic lead lines, and the sleazy, acid-flecked, hip-house inspired 'Peppermint Jam Extended Mix'.

Hit On You (Moplen Retouch) (8:23)
Review: Roundtree hit hard with the few joints they gifted to the disco world. Led by songwriter and producer Kenny Lehman, they dropped an album and a couple of singles in 1978, but then made a surprise return in 1982 for a one-shot drop of boogified perfection on Aria. 'Hit On You' is one of those simply perfect jams with a nasty bassline and all the hooks you could wish for, and Groovin clearly know what they're after as they lead with the dub mix on the A side for this reissue. There's also the remix version of the track, and an additional retouch from Moplen thrown in for good measure to give you a prime cut three ways - no bad thing in our book.

Her 1980's album proved her most acclaimed and now Groovin Records serve up two of its most standout cuts. The fuse big hearted vocals, cosmic disco keys and funky reggae beat that will warm any early evening party right up. 'In Alto Mare' is the more upbeat of the two thanks to its funky riffs and big piano stabs, but both still sound mighty fine after 40 years.

Review: Scottish house music duo Silicone Soul aka Craig Morrison & Graeme Reedie's turn-of-the-millennium deep houser 'Right On!' certainly made a big splash back then, breaching the UK dance singles chart by bringing the genre an oily soulful emulsion. However, not their first release for the esteemed Soma Quality Recordings, 'Right On!' was an expert construction and a favourite for lovers of vocal house at the time. The track is a cover of Curtis Mayfield's 'Right On For The Darkness', a paean for living in the now and grabbing life by the bullhorns).

Review: Omniverse's Never Get Enough dropped back in 1990 at the peak of the first wave of Italo house. It remains a gem no matter the era and now gets a welcome reissue which means you won't have to pay over inflated prices to own it. 'Never Get Enough' (Sunday Morning mix) is perfectly dreamy deep house with mystic synth leads and hazy pads layered up to seductive perfection. 'Never Get Enough' (club mix) reworks the A-side into something a little more punch but no less doused in subtle waves of euphoria.

Review: It's not every day we encounter Christian acid house, but the historic contributions to the scene by one Dimensional Holofonic Sound (DHS, real name Benjamin Stokes) are an exception to this general observation. An ingenious project which takes full advantage of the penchant for acid house producers to sample Evangelistic sermons, Stokes always went one step further by neglecting to omit the religious themes in these samples. The result was EPs like 'The House Of God', first released in 1990 and reissued here via Groovin. Raw, breaksy and rude productions are all compelled by a core vocal sample here, proving that acid house - the gateway to many contemporary religious experiences - belongs to no-one but the almighty.

Review: 'San Salvador' is by far and away the most celebrated track by Celso Valli's studio-only disco band, Azoto. A driving, heavily orchestrated chunk of grandiose disco heaviness with a touch of Latin swing, percussion aplenty, swirling strings and righteous horns, it's been an 'instant party starter' since it first appeared at the turn of the 80s. This reissue boasts both of Valli's original mixes - the hands-aloft, vocal-sporting original mix and the piano stab-powered instrumental take - as well as two contemporary tweaks. There's the 'Vocal Club Mix', a filter-sporting disco-house take that replaces some of the vocal with a new female lead, and the French Touch-esque remix by Belgians Natural Born Grooves aka Bert Boon & Jaco van Rijswijk. House DJs will appreciate these revisions, though it's Valli's original mixes that still hit home hardest.

Review: On their latest must-check reissue, Groovin' Recordings take us back to 1998 and a killer chunk of what would then have been called 'US garage' produced by Deep Swing duo Eric Wikman and James Donaldson under their alternative Sunkids alias. The fact that it was 'executive produced' by Tony Humphries should tell you what to expect: gospel-influenced soulful full to bursting with bumpin' beats, rubbery bass guitar, righteous beats and powerful, life-affirming lead vocals courtesy of Chance. The flip side 'Reworked' version is a more stomping, high-energy affair informed by the popularity of filter-heavy funky house and disco-house. It's good, but it's the hands-in-the-air A-side that's the real killer.

The record leads with 'An Instrumental Need', an absolute benchmark of piano house perfection which will instantly take a party to a truly positive place, and that's even before the vibes solo comes twinkling into earshot. Review: Groovin' Records' latest archival release is not a new edition of a classic deep house EP from the 1990s, but rather the sought-after 2015 debut EP from sometime Drumpoet Community and Cosmic Pint Glass contributors Jack Pattern. It's far more rooted in Italo-disco and space disco than many of the Swiss crew's later releases, with vintage drum machine and synthesiser sounds to the fore. Check first the sparkling, pulsating and intergalactic-sounding excellence of opener 'Miami Phonecall', before immersing yourself in the head-soothing deep space drift of ambient excursion 'Echange Mystique'. Classic - and rhythmically metronomic - Italo-disco sounds are provided via 'Disco Prohibido', while 'Penisola D'Amore' is a space echo-sporting fusion of off-kilter electro drums, whispered male spoken word vocals and neon-lit Italo-disco synths.

Originally released in 1990 and a dancefloor smash all over Europe, 'What U Need' is typical of loved-up Italian house of the period - all life-affirming piano stabs, tactile synth-bass, occasional synth-strings, rolling drum machine beats and cut-up vocal snippets from First Choice's much-sampled disco classic 'Let No Man Put Asunder'. Over on the reverse you'll find original B-side 'A Little Piano', a deeper and even more loved-up workout that's effectively a deep house style dub of the A-side, shorn of the vocals, featuring chunkier beats, more prominent bass, and delay-laden piano motifs aplenty.

Review: 'Maledetta Quella Notte' is the first EP by Il Mago del Gelato, a new band from Milan (IT) with a strong Mediterranean imprint. This first album of theirs runs through funk, afrobeat and jazz; all the divergent strands make up the project, later convergent and blending in a nigh-perfect balance. Warm, watery, jazz-futuristic and easy on the ears, it's all held together by the uniquely Milanese fusion of vocoder, percussion, 80s synths, and roots guitars.

Review: Rocco Rodamaal is a new name to us here but one we hope we will be hearing more of based on the evidence of this new EP on Groovin. It takes the form of a searing new single 'TBT3', which is all raw drum slaps and coarse claps, prying bass and tribal percussion. It is backed up by some fine remixes starting with Atjazz who brings his famously musical and delightful house depths, while Dario D'Attis then gets more heavy with his percussive and loopy version. Last of all is Yoruba legend Osunlade who brings some swinging jazz and organic hand claps to a complete rebuild.
