Review: Mark Broom is a techno veteran, but just because he enjoys that sot of status doesn't mean he has lost his edge. He proves that here with a hefty new record on Radio Salve's mighty Rekids. It bangs from the off with his signature heavy drums defining each of the tracks across all four sides of vinyl. '100% Juice' is peak time tackle with incendiary hit hats and loopy synths, 'Slush' is a head melter with more warped lines and elsewhere 'Wonky Workout' does exactly what says on the tin. There is a brilliantly unsettling and eerie vibe to 'Boxed In' and straight up dance floor fire in 'Wiggle Me This.'

I'm Gonna Get You (10:00)
Review: Second time around for Nina Kraviz's key early single Pain In The Ass, a two-tracker that was originally released on Rekids way back in 2009. This edition has been pressed to brilliant white vinyl, though otherwise it's the same as the original 12" release. That's no bad thing though, because the title track is a particularly druggy, wonky and out-there chunk of after-hours sleaze, with Kraviz layering ghostly electronic stabs and her own spoken word vocals over a sparse-but-heavy tech-house groove. Original B-side 'I'm Gonna Get You' is a slightly dreamier affair, with Kraviz singing over squelchy synth-bass, sustained deep space chords, chiming melodies and more stripped-back beats.

Review: Following the release of his blisteringly heavy Funfzig album on Rekids last year, Mark Broom returns to Matt Edwards' imprint with a teaser for the hotly anticipated follow-up, 100% Juice. As you'd expect, there's no messing around from the UK techno veteran, with opener '100% Juice (Sampler Mix)' delivering a bowel-bothering, cranium-snapping blend of rave-igniting, minor key stabs, booming bass and stomping beats. In contrast, 'Contingo' is trippy in tone thanks to all manner of overlapping synth lines, while 'Nod To The D' sees Broom blend his own drum machine-driven take on techno with vintage Motor City sounds. Rounding off a rock-solid EP is 'Spiked', a raw and razor-sharp techno throb-job primed for peak-time floors.

Nice (5:35)
Review: Although he was one of the earliest producers to record techno records - he made his debut on Metroplex in 1986 - Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes is rarely mentioned in the same breath as the Belleville Three or other Detroit originators. It's a shame, because his back catalogue is full of dancefloor gold and he continues to deliver killer cuts - as this surprise EP for Rekids proves. There's plenty to savour throughout, from the redlined, Inner City-circa-1989 excellence of 'Forever' and the subtly jazz-flecked tribal house of 'Shake Your Body', to the piano-sporting house joy of 'What About Us' (where Fowlkes brilliantly chops up what sound like r&b vocal samples) and the rolling deep house excellence of 'Nice'.

Love Will Remain (4:35)
I've Got Joy (5:14)
Review: The genius of the Star B project lies in the club-ready fusion of Stefano Miele AKA Riva Starr's inherent party-starting intent and the restless energy of Mark Broom's techno roots. The project's first outing, 2020's 'Gotta Have You', was an excitable disco-house-meets-techno affair, and this belated sequel is similarly formed. Full to bursting with scintillating stabs crafted from disco samples, thumping beats, sampled party atmos, hazy spoken word snippets and restless walking bass, 'Love Will Remain' sounds like a retro-futurist peak-time anthem in the making. They flip the script on 'I've Got Joy', peppering a sweat-soaked, bottom-heavy groove with effects-laden female vocal samples and nagging organ stabs.

Wan Poku Moro (One Tune More) (Riva Starr remix) (6:12)
Review: 2000 And One is one of many artistic alter-egos of Dylan Hermelyn, the Netherlands producer whose credits stretch as far back as 1990. A staple of the Amsterdam techno scene and a prominent fixture of Dutch House generators 100% Pure and later Delsin, Hermelyn's contributions at the very least verge on timeless and closing track 'Wan Poku Moro' from 2009's full-length album, Heritage, is among the top contenders for this crown. The track is a bongo-laden bustler full of the lively implied sounds of city life and clocks in at eight minutes in its attempt to reach the awesome heights of the house music sublime; here, however, comes Radio Slave and Riva Starr on this Rekids reinterpretation, both of whom pare the track back to its bassiest and pulsiest constituent parts, albeit to their own ends.

Review: Mark Broom's Mutated Battle Breaks series is proving to be some of the most inspired music from the UK techno stalwart in years. When you're getting a Mark Broom record you expect a certain degree of techno functionality, but here he's ladling the rock solid rhythms with serious funk and flair. The offbeat synth groove of 'Tube' feels like a nod to Robert Hood's pioneering style, but Broom does plenty to jazz the music up in his own way. 'HF2 (Bass Line Mix)' features some cheeky acid and a subtle swing to the hats which will get you locked in hard, and then 'TEST25' fires off an absolute stormer with some of the toughest finger-clicks you'll have ever heard in a peak time techno monster, laden with disco string stabs.

Review: You always know what you are going to get from Radio Slave, and that is high functioning techno that never fails to make an impact in the club. The man behind the music, Matt Edwards, is one of techno's most enduring and consistent performers and he confirms that again here with the pair of bangers on his own Rekids label. 'Acid Dip' has punchy, funky drums that hammer home the groove with big, bouncy hits bring further dynamics as an occasional slaying synth sprays across the face of the tune. Devastating. 'Armani' is a brian-frying, loopy, synth-heavy workout full of texture.

Review: The entrancing tribal house groove of Jerome Sydenham, Fatima Njai's and percussionist Mario Punchard's Kraftwerk channeling 'Trans Afro Express' is one of this year's biggest tracks for Rekids, which now receives a series of impressive reworks by the biggest names on the scene. Running Back's Gerd Janson delivers a sunny and blissful rework in his signature neon-lit disco style on the A side of the disc. Over on the flip, it's over to the master of minimalism - none other than Ricardo Villalobos - who takes the track deep into the afterhours with his heady makeover delivered in his idiosyncratic style.

Review: The ever-reliable Rekids welcomes a safe pair of hands in Dustin Zahn for this latest floor-filling EP. It's a no-nonsense, high functioning offering from the start with the intense bleeps and loopy synths of 'Feed The Fire' racing you into the next dimension. 'Heresy' comes from the classic school of Detroit techno minimalism with its rolling drums and hypnotic patterns, then 'Profane Purposes' bangs a bit harder with chattery Chicago percussion and off-balance kicks demanding you dance. 'Golden Hour' then suspends you in a warm, hallucinogenic deep techno atmosphere.

Review: Rekids apply the breaks for an end-of-year jolt of euphoria with rising duo KUSP. Following releases on the likes of Planet Rhythm and Tronic, 'Folding' comes in two halves; the original is a Bicep-flavoured broken beat emotional whirlwind dusted with the sugar-sweet vocals of Pablo Rita while the duo's own After Dark mix takes things back into the pounding 4x4 territory the pair are best known for. In true Rekids fashion, 'Folding' is boosted with two high profile remixes: None other than Roman Flugel takes the lead with an electroid necksnapper while Radio Slave folds all switches, slows the tempo and gives us a moment of pure chill-craft. Every corner covered.

Review: We're not sure about the specific inspiration behind Ian Pooley's ongoing 'Studio A' series of EPs, but it feels like an exercise in getting the most from different electronic instruments that have long been lurking in the German veteran's studio. Either way, EP3 boasts some genuinely cracking cuts. Perhaps the headline attraction is 'SP12 Electric Mistress', an analogue-rich exercise in skewed, post acid-house jack with added Yorkshire bleeps that comes accompanied by a raw, discordant and mind-mangling, acid-flecked '303 Mix'. Elsewhere, 'PSS 480' is a thumping, driving, bass-heavy old school jack-track, while 'Viola' offers a tantalising mix of bustling techno drums, sci-fi synth-strings and creepy riffs.

Review: Here comes the second part of the RSPX presents Actualize compilation, released by Rekids, a Berlin-based label run by Radio Slave aka. Matt Edwards. Ultimately, said comp will contain 16 tracks of hard-hitting and diverse techno from a range of artists to have featured on Edwards' Rekids Special Projects sublabel, which focuses on 'no-nonsense' techno. For the time being, though, the comp split into a series of four EPs, evidently allowing the listener breathing room and time to consider each track, not least with the intention of being heard on high-quality vinyl. Slam and Radio Slave helm up the A-side for some neat meditative numbers, while relative newcomers Silvershower and Confidential Recipe deliver much wilder hard techno tea on the B.

The vaping chords and unrelenting drum funk worked countless dancefloors all over the world into a real frenzy a decade or so ago. It now gets revisited by Rekids label head Radio Slave who has updated it with some extra effects nd naughtiness for modern dance floors. Review: While it's become fashionable to release records that draw on the more psychedelic musical elements evident in vintage techno, electro and trance records, A Sagittariun has been ploughing that sonic furrow for many years. He successfully dips into this pool of influences once more on the Strange Brew EP, whose title may be a reference to a club in his home city of Bristol. He begins by enveloping a punchy, rolling electro-breaks groove with cosmic-sounding pads, bubbly electronics and slivers of TB-303 tweakery on 'The Mind Blanks at the Glare', before opting for a sweaty, rave-era-house-goes-acid-techno sound on the chugging, mind-mangling 'Don't Look in the Freezer'. Best of all though is flipside 'Cosmic Trigger', a deliciously immersive chunk of deep techno rich in trippy electronics, sumptuous pads and tactile grooves.

Review: Eddie Fowlkes has a hit a proper purple patch lately, bouncing from one essential release to the next and getting deserved props after pioneering Detroit house techno from day one. Fresh from a release for Classic, he hops over to Rekids to lay down more of that idiosyncratic gear that will instantly catch the ears of even the most nonchalant barfly, as 'Bahama Man' springs through infectious swing, a rubbery bassline and steady rising tension. 'Follow Me' is classic Fowlkes house pump, all looped up and fiery, primed for the peak time. 'Chi 2022' takes it deeper thanks to some washy, dubbed-out chords and then 'Cube' completes the picture with a naughty little riff to get people grooving down low, packed full of the personality that only Fowlkes can bring to a tech house tune.

U Gotta (6:58)
Review: Here's something we didn't expect: an outing from noughties dance music star (and now long-serving producer) Nic Fanciulli on Radio Slave's Rekids imprint. A-side 'On My Mind' has the feel of a genuine peak-time club smash in the making - a rolling, bass-heavy disco-house excursion that peppers a muscular, non-stop groove with cut-up vocal samples from what sounds like a classic soul record of the 1970s. As you'd expect from a producer of Fanciulli's experience, the track does all the right things in all the right places. He goes deeper, darker and more hypnotic on flipside 'U Gotta', wrapping sustained note synth-strings, echoing female vocal snippets and peak Tenaglia synth stabs around a weighty, dubby, Twilo-inspired NYC house groove. It's a pleasing blast from the past.

Review: Frankey & Sandrino are a mighty pair who know how to lay down compelling tech sounds. They unite once more here for a powerful two-tracker on the legendary Berlin-based Rekids label. First up is 'Brainscan' which is dark and moody, with futuristic synths and stark vocals over a rolling, tense bassline. On the flip is 'Condesa' which is a much more loose affair with broken beat drums and 80s synth lines. It has a post-rave 90s feel but updates for modern dance floors. Both tunes are likely to get plenty of plays this winter.

Review: Radio Slave's Rekids label welcomes Berlin mainstay Mathias Kaden for a new single that features Zoe Xenia and remixes from label regular Ian Pooley. 'Blackbird' is a big tech house cut that is defined by its scintillating synth work which dances a busy dance over metallic, synthetic drum sounds. The vocals are the fiery finish that will make this a real club anthem. It also comes as an instrumental while the Ian Pooley Pooley main remix brings a little more funk and nuance to his well swung house drums. His basic dub then ups the bas weight and drum intensity to make for a fine finish.

The Berlin-based Brit offers one single, 'Wait A Minute' but it is a bulky one with robust, skipping, funky drums and ravey synths all topped off with a lively vocal. That can be a help to an artist's career, frankly, because those who are hot one minute are often not the next. Anyway, he shows his class is permeant with this new single on Rekids. 'Catch The Heat' has a throwback feel to it - steamy and warm pads, chunky mid-tempo drums and an impassioned vocal that reminds of Renaissance-era Sasha and Digweed. Nic Fancifully works it into a more straight-up tech cut and Frankey & Sandrino bring some progressive melodic magic to their version.

Here he is back under his own name on Berlin mainstay Rekids with four to-the-point yet still characterful techno cuts. 'Yes People' with both amp up the energy in the club but also trip out all those who hear it thanks to its caustic drums and mind-melting synths. 'Play Simple' is a double time weapon with spoken words morphing before your ears next to an insistent rhythm and sleek pads. 'Jam' is a wonky one with detuned chords tumbling about the mix over old school techno directness and 'Mysterious Delight' again cuts loose at the afters. This may be his best work in some time.

Review: Matt Edwards has been in a nostalgic mood of late, thinking back to the start of his now long-running Radio Slave project. That began with an unofficial (but widely played) rework of Kylie Minogue smash 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', and it's that tune - and his unreleased version of it - that inspired this floor-filling, mind-mangling ear worm. The A-side 'Club Mix', a nine-minute throb-job powered forwards by Giorgio Moroder style bass, snappy house drums and rich organ stabs, boasts snippets of vocal courtesy of Sylvester-style American singer Michael Loves Michael, and sounds every bit as alluring as Edwards' infamous bootleg take. The flip-side 'Maxxi Version' features all of Michael Loves Michael's vocals and sits somewhere between sleazy underground synth-pop and sparkling, revivalist Italo-disco. Two ace takes on a stone-cold pop classic that sound fabulous when played on meaty club soundsystems.

Since then there have been a couple of new releases and this latest one is another high-impact affair on Rekids. His tackle always sells out because it is robust and well-designed and an absolute dead cert to destroy the club. This one is devastatingly simple but effective - hammering drums, deeply rooted bass rumbles and tight, busy melodies patterns that loop and evolve up top. As well as a nice ambient version from Radio Slave, the label head also offers up a deep and dynamic techno rework full of dub swing.

Wake Up (Superpitcher remix) (9:00)
Wake Up (Idjut Boys Shed mix) (7:07)
Review: Radio Slave's most recent single, the trippy, string-laden and subtly disco-influenced deep house after-party workout 'Wake Up', gets the remix treatment, with two artists renowned for delivering delightfully wayward dancefloor epics at the helm. Kompakt favourites Superpitcher steps up first, placing the original's oddball (sampled) spoken word vocal atop a hypnotic, subtly changing bed of acid motifs, warming chords, hypnotic house drums and delay-laden Rhodes chords. Over on side B, the Idjut Boys retire to their shed, potter about a bit, and return with a typically mind-mangling, dubbed-out take that's most likely amongst the darkest and most psychedelic things they've ever released - and that's saying something.

I Still Believe (7:59)
909 Lives (5:50)
Review: Chicago based but Ukrainian-born Alinka steps up to the mighty Rekids with another standout EP that shows she has a unique, melon twisting sound. It kicks off with the full throttle 'Teacher's with jacked up drums and percussion. 'I'm Your Ghost' then layers in circling acid lines and old school bass while 'I Still Believe' lats the spirits with its trippy synths and sci-fi melodies all bring a subtle sense of party and joy. Closing out this punchy analogue EP is '909 Lives' with more potent drums and rugged grooves.

M-Bomb (6:02)
E-Dancer (6:22)
D-Edge (7:06)
Review: Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave's Rekids label is back with something a bit different here: it is a debut release from Serbian duo XL Traxx who show off their fierce and jacked-up analogue sounds across three bangers. 'M-Bomb' is the early standout with a classic Chicago house vocal over raw, hard-hitting drums surely made with some proper outboard gear. 'E-Dancer' then offers the sort of loopy synth energy you would expect from a tune with such a name and then the bouncy house and catchy finger clicks of 'D-Edge' have slightly deeper vibes.

Any Good Vibe? (5:51)
Ego Kills (5:50)
Ghana (5:53)
Review: Italian techno trunculator Marco Faraone returns to ask: 'Any Good Vibe?' It's a good question, because truly good vibes can be hard to come by nowadays, not least in today's socio-economic-political climate, and Faraone proves himself more than able to channel this feeling of ambivalence, with his three newest tracks - the title track, 'Ego Kills' and 'Ghana' - spanning moods of both stress and joy in equal measure. Via these massive-room stonkers, suitable for both beachside shindigs and warehouse parties of dubious legality, we must indeed ask - where are the good vibes, if not inside ourselves?

Review: Nina Kraviz is one of global techno's most recognisable names and biggest headliners by now. But many years ago, when she was still not long finished with her dentist training, she was a little-known underground artist sneaking out superbly subtle and smoky house jams on labels like Underground Quality and Rekids. It is the latter label where she served up 'Taxi Talk', which features her own vocal musings and whisperings recorded late one night on a taxi journey. It is paired with trippy synth motifs and a swaying, stripped-back groove to make for something impossibly intimate. This reissue also comes with a twisted tech remix from David Lohlein and disco-fried venison from Sterac Electronics.

Sugar (6:33)
Sugar (Mark Broom remix) (5:47)
Sugar (DJ Deep remix) (10:32)
Review: Some breathless, energy-packed, party-starting brilliance here, as rave-loving Londoner HUD makes his Rekids label debut. In its' original mix form, 'Sugar' is a dirty, atmospheric, breakbeat-driven peak-time house bomb packed with jangling paino riffs, filthy bass and punchy beats, all topped off with a fantastically weary and emotive female lead vocal. Predictably, the accompanying remixes are pretty darn tidy too. Mark Broom delivers a storming and pumping techno version - all thunderous kick drums, breakbeat blasts, lilting lead lines and bouncy pianos - while DJ Deep gives the track a slight hip-house feel via funky breaks, cut-up, Todd Edwards style vocal cut-ups and chunky bass.
