Review: 2000 And One is one of many artistic alter-egos of Dylan Hermelyn, the Netherlands producer whose credits stretch as far back as 1990. A staple of the Amsterdam techno scene and a prominent fixture of Dutch House generators 100% Pure and later Delsin, Hermelyn's contributions at the very least verge on timeless and closing track 'Wan Poku Moro' from 2009's full-length album, Heritage, is among the top contenders for this crown. The track is a bongo-laden bustler full of the lively implied sounds of city life and clocks in at eight minutes in its attempt to reach the awesome heights of the house music sublime; here, however, comes Radio Slave and Riva Starr on this Rekids reinterpretation, both of whom pare the track back to its bassiest and pulsiest constituent parts, albeit to their own ends.

Review: The band 2000 Black, who include 4Hero icon Dego among their number, are masters of the broken beat scene, leaders amongst men who whether working alone or with others are always in top form. This two track outing kicks off with 'Soursop & Mango', a bristling, bustling mix of raw drums and bursts of cosmic synth energy that radiates soul, all with neat guitar riffs stitched into the mix. Review: 49th Floor is a pseudonym for Stefano Curti from The True Underground Sound of Rome, originally applied to a sole 1992 release Night Passage. Vibraphone always do a fine job of folding time in on itself from these glory days of Italo house up to the present day, and so it feels natural for a new 49th Floor 12" to arrive despite more than 30 years since the last one. 'Zamani' comes on four different versions which give plenty of options to deep diving DJs, from the full-spectrum, pad-soaked propulsion of the 'Body Mix' to the raw acid throwdown of the 'Magic K Dub Remix', a straight up dreamy 'Deep Mix' and swirling, splashy 'Dub Mix'. Review: He may be based in St Petersburg, a city not known for being a sun trap, but Mikhail Khvasko AKA A Vision of Panorama is incredibly good at making warming, summer-ready Balearic beats. Further proof, should it be needed, arrives via his latest EP for Cala Tarida Musica. In its original form, 'Unconditional' is a terrific slab of Balearic nu-disco/Balearic house fusion - all rubbery bass guitar, smooth bits, gorgeous chords and twinkling melodies. It comes backed with a breezier, breakbeat-sporting 'dub vinyl edit' (an even sunnier and more attractive affair) and an 'instrumental' pass of the more house-centric take. Rounding off another fine EP is 'Shall We', a colourful fusion of jangling house pianos, attractive keyboard sounds and squelchy synth-bass underpinned by a box-fresh, post-electro boogie beat.

But thankfully he is still turning out superbly deep sounds that are as profound and emotive as they are heady and escapist. Here he is back on Phonogramme with 'Analogue Stories Vol. 2' which comes on a unique semi-transparent 12'' vinyl. The beats are warm and humid, thickly coated with a diffuse synth hue as the rooted drums roll on smoothly. 'How U Do It' is out pick - a musical odyssey with layers of instrumentation, piano and percussion all topped off with a Moodyman vocal sample.

Review: After declining to reveal their identities while promoting their early singles on Nu Groove, Acid Jerks decided to unmask themselves earlier in the year. Now Berlin-based twosome Oliver Siebert (AKA Oliver $) and Stefan Braatz (founder of Adapter Records) have pitched up on Local Talk for the first time. They begin by doffing a cap to Lil' Louis and hypnotic, heads-down epics of old on the hypnotic excellence of 'Shades of Grey' (which boasts some very DJ Rolando-esque synth-strings), before opting for a more Mr Fingers-esque sound on the nostalgic 'Wheels of Forture'. Over on the reverse, 'Rise Up' sounds like a long-lost Virgo Four deep house jam from the mid 1980s, while 'Ace of Spade' is a terrific, effects-laden jack-track driven forwards by a killer bassline and psychedelic acid lines.

Review: Adam Antine is also known as Dawn Razor, a prolific producer covering all kinds of styles from bass-toting broken techno to slender minimal on labels like R&S, Otake and Baroque. Now he lands on Deepology with a masterful EP of contemporary minimal which draws on breakbeat as much as glitchy electronica and ambient to create a standout EP. The title is instructive - all the tracks carry a dusky, seasonal mood which elevates these beyond simple club tracks, even if they have more than enough presence in the rhythm section to keep a dancefloor moving. Lose yourself in the fluttering piano and murmuring pads of the title track and you'll practically feel the leaves crunching under your feet.

Review: There sure is an appropriate sense of futurism in these new breakbeats from Ahu. Opener 'Jina' is run through with far-sighted chords that bring to mind the glowing metropolis of Ridley Scott's 'Bladerunner' - it even feels like there's rain falling in the tune as well as subtle celestial vocals and deep, driving bass. and spoken word samples to add that cinematic ambiance. 'Jina (Mahsa)' is soulful machine music - fans of the glorious 69 project of Carl Craig will doubtless dig it - and then 'Nika' rides on a much more rubbery and lovely, lumpy Herbert-esque beat with molten synth melodies and a darker energy. A stylish EP, no doubt.

Review: Hot Casa France reissue a sultry drum workout from master Turkish darbouka player Yasar Akpence's 2004 album 'Passion Percussion'. 'Desert wind' layers unbelievably tight darbouka trills and phrases over a pulsing, almost dembow-esque core, making for a perfect Balearic DJ tool for any occasion. We can imagine this one bookending hypnotic techno wormholes in a small hours Donato Dozzy set, with its wide stereo drum intrusions and tight production longing to be aired off a suitably weighty soundsystem. Truly chameleonic and compelling music!

Review: Paris-based DJ and producer Aleqs Notal showcases his wide range of influences on this new EP for One Level. It's a club-ready four-track with tech house at its heart but plenty of references to ambient synth work, electro's cinematism and dub's warmth. 'Untwisted Delight' is a perfect early evening warm up to get the floor moving, then 'Save Ya' gets more direct and heavy though the pads remain doused in soul. There is a peak time feel to the driving percussion and Detroit-style techno warmth of 'Come Get It' but the best is saved to last. 'Hymn Of Passion' has balmy pads circling around a kicking groove that's peppered with percussion.

Review: Poggio and Gabriel Belabbas' cheeky Positive Future label is back once again to bring some playful mischief to the contemporary electro-techno scene. This split release showcases some of the artists orbiting the label, kicking off in spooky style with Aline Umber's 'Hypnotized', which features a pitched down vocal from Poggio no less. Juaan's 'Talt' is equally steeped in B-movie freakery and tongue-in-cheek samples, while Ramez takes things deeper on bass-toting dirtbag joint 'Devil Selectro'. Plazeg finishes the record off with the scattershot bleep feast 'German Physicist', which has a whale of a time plying its own line in gleefully macabre club music.

Review: Ibiza-based Londoner Kellie Allen is making increasingly vital moves of late. She has played all over some of Europe's finest parties and dropped, or is about to drop, music on labels such as PIV Records and Boogeyman. This one on House Puff in France is a perfect indication of her sound - classically informed house music with fresh perspective. 'Back In The 80's' is a New Jersey vibe, 'I Know' has a spaced out synth feel and 'Parisian Summer' is more kinetic and future-facing with slick grooves making you move. Closer 'Funk For Peace' is another nice and breezy house cut perfect for balmy nights.

Review: Global Essence Sampler is a new series from Deep Inspiration Show Records that calls upon a fine roster of international producer talent to serve up one track each and reflect on what deep house is today. For Allstarr Motomusic the answer is smooth and cruising house grooves with elastic basslines and distant vocal wails. Barce explores classic Larry Heard-style cosmic melodic territory with plenty of star-gazing potential, and Zarenzeit's 'Zahara' is another one that floats amongst the stars with lush ambient pads. Jank offers a more dusty, rhythmic house sound for cosy backroom parties, and then come the jazzy melodies and soulful bass noodling of Jan Kincl's '3300 Gratiot Ave.' Magic stuff.

Review: MCMLXV welcomes back Analog~1 for a third outing here. It is an alias of JS Zeiter and one that is reserved more for esoteric and electronica tracks following notable outings on labels such as Furthur Electronix, Meandyou and We're Going Deep. 'Mirage' kicks off with melancholic pads and dubby chords over crisp minimal drums that sink you into a reverie. That vibe continues through 'Virtual' and 'Haunted' which care both sophisticated atmospheres with subtle electro-tinged rhythms and quietly emotive pads. 'Solano' closes down with another icy and cavernous space that is filled with meaningful synth craft to make for another classy EP.

Review: German progressive house duo Andhim specialize in bringing out the genre's sentimental side, and their latest single 'I Love You' is a masterful case in point. Describing their sound as "super house", the pair evidently only choose the most serene and gut-punching sounds and samples going in, and 'I Love You' exemplifies this, with its knife-edge, repetitive vocal and swellingly pink chords, which recall the French house climaxes of The Paradise or Daft Punk, and/or the more recent, well-rounded post-10s uplifts of Bicep. Of course, the B-side must provide the mirror image, on which the equally powerful emotion of hatred is explored. Hatred isn't exactly a house music go-to, but the psychologist in us feels compelled to remind the reader that love and hatred, aren't binary opposites, and are closer together than we often think!

Review: Otherwise known as Doc Bozique and fresh from a reissue album on Cosmic Soup, Howard Dodd's work as Anoesis has been well and truly revived and progressed out of the archival realm into actual new productions. On this record for Cyphon, we're treated to more of the elegantly warped, subliminal machine funk associated with Anoesis since his cult mid-90s releases, veering from the deep-tracking sonar techno of 'Track Thirty 7' to the Guidance-ready bump of Callisto, which must surely be a tribute to the legendary house producer. There's soul and flair by the bucketload, calling out to all those who value a little imagination in their club music.

Review: Moozikeh Analog Room welcomes back Iranian born, Detroit based artist Salar Ansari for a second outing with his Feelings From The Future EP. And it lives up to its title as the artist draws on the traditional Detroit techno sound but embellishes it with his own sense of urgency and warming machine soul. The title track is quick and persuasive with heavenly melodies and filtered vocals swirling next to melancholic chords. 'Cyber Daze' is more hyper speed deep techno and '4 23 21' is slower with emphasis on the ambient pads and twitchy bassline. Last of all is the percussive flurry and restless arps of 'This Cord'. A standout and unique EP, all told.

Review: Omakase keeps up the momentum of its fine first release with a second sizzling followup, this time from Trauma alongside Anton under their collaborative guise Antraum. It's a case of super silky sounds only here with deft and dubbed out tech on the opener 'Hachi', which is defined by a superb vocal hook. 'Roko' is a jittery rhythm with breakbeat and icy cold hits all warmed through by a fine bassline. 'San' shuts down with a nice laid back tech beat that encourages you to sink deep into it.

Review: Ardeleanu Bogdan first appeared on Atipic back in 2019, and now the up and coming producer returns with another four exercises in dub techno informed minimal which should go down a storm in long-form DJ sets where there's time to stretch out and get a little psychedelic. The opening track on the record creates a vibrant soundscape teeming with movement from interwoven arps and space age pads, while the A2 locks into an elegant strain of electro capped off with hi-tech jazz flourishes. The B-side kicks off with driving machine soul doused in mellow, melodically-rich synth shapes, then the closing track completes the picture in a mellifluous blur of squidgy leads and undulating low end.

Review: French label D3 - which when pronounced in French sounds like their word for Detroit - is a decade old and celebrates the milestone with a special three-part EP series. As has always been the case over that 10 year period, the sounds it serves up are deep and housey. This various artists affair kicks off with AsTreJinkins' slow and propulsive 'Terror' before some nice airy and live sounding broken beats from New Digital Fidelity. Moroka picks up the pace with some hi-tek soul that sounds straight from the Motor City and Byron The Aquarius shows off his mastery of the keys again with a dreamy deep cut 'Tua Su Ra'. Nico Lahs shuts down with a heavyweight beatdown in the form of 'It's Spelled BARI.'

Review: Philip Leroi has had many musical lives over the years, variously recording as Linntronix and alongside Danny Sugarman as Stylus Heat. Atlantic Brain is his latest project, with the EP for Prins Thomas's Internasjonal label being his most high-profile to date. The key cut is 'Brother', a sparkling, melodious and attractive slab of electro marked out by squelchy bass and star-fall melodies. Rising star Alan Dixon delives two takes: a gorgeous, largely beat-free 'Piano Reprise' that sits at the rhythmic end of the ambient spectrum and the squelchy nu-disco-goes-deep house 'Love Attack Mix'. Elsewhere, 'The New Normal' is a shuffling and ghostly electro-not-electro number and 'Sticky Fingers' is a pleasingly wayward acid excursion.

Review: Having dipped into the label's bulging archives earlier in the year to offer up a freshly remastered edition of 'Klarky Kat' by Gumbo (a rare collaboration between label bosses Attaboy and Swag's Chris Duckenfield), Toko has returned to the vaults for another essential reissue. 'In Too Deep' hails from 1997, when it marked the fifth release on the Sheffield-based imprint. Reflective of the sound played at legendary Sheffield deep and tech-house party Scuba, the title track is a sultry and saucer-eyed affair, with sustained synth-strings, tactile riffs and luscious melodic motifs wrapping around an hypnotic deep house-meets-tech-house groove. In contrast, 'In Deeper' is a much more minimalistic, tech-tinged affair, close in sound and tone to Swag productions of the period - all deep, undulating bass, effects-laden weirdo noises and locked-in beats.

Review: The twisted and trance-infused progressive techno sound of Les Disques De La Jungle is one we have been keen to hear more from, and here we have it: a new EP featuring some of the artists who have already dropped heat here. AV1 goes first with the crispy metal drums and warped synths of 'Meta2' then Fsk24 & Felix Dulac combine for the hammering tech-funk of 'Un Eclair Dans La Nuit' which would have been a Tyrant classic back in the day. Fsk24 then hooks up with Nils for the stomping and noen-lit jungle-tech of 'Toomai Des Elephants' before partnering with Solal Reyes for the tripped out but driving closer 'Tongue Twister'.

Review: Ben Sun brings his radiant rays of melodic beauty to this fresh new deep house platter on the small but already well-formed Cyphon label. 'Tether' opens up with bright and synth synths zipping about next to heartfelt vocal coos as raw beats power things onwards. 'Self & Other' then bumps its way through Detroit synth magic and hooky percussive sounds and 'Apex' slows down but is another house outing drenched in mellifluous and meaningful chords. Review: We always love to hear from the Club Unite label because if nothing else it has our favourite catalogue numbering system of any label out there. The tunes are of course class too - old school house with a heavy Chicago influence. This various artists selection starts with the taught bass and spangled synths of Blak 'N' Orange's 'Feeling Real Good.' Black Chunes gets more raw and off kilter with the organ claps and clipped vocal cries of 'Don't Hold Back!' and then up the party with the piano bounce of 'Feel The Flow' complete with smooth and seductive vocal coos. Last of all, The Deep Music Agenda brings some US garage swing to 'That Crazy Thing'.

Review: Here comes Boink pulling up to Curb Side with some of that signature deep house niceness we so appreciate round these parts. There's a healthy amount of swing driving 'Nor Wee', not to mention an abundance of twinkling melodic touches that help the beats go down easily. 'Have More Fun' is all about a naughty bassline and subtle threads of atmosphere, while 'Just A Doop' lets the chords lead the way (but not at the expense of some cheeky low end action, naturally). 'Contrast Stitch' is a more pumped up workout with a garage house beat you can sink your dancing teeth right into, and a perfect blend of bouncy sampling and silky chords for the full dancefloor package.

Review: Parisian label Frappe has decided the time is right to drop this house classic from Brooklyn Baby on vinyl. It's been out digitally for a year but never sounds better than on wax. Review: Eya continues to be a hotbed of cheeky club energy as they welcome the power duo Thoma Bulwer and Anna Wall to lay down some nasty grooves after they last collaborated for Serenity in 2021. 'Liquid Wiggle' is a sassy slice of contemporary acid house shot through with trippy FX and catchy tech house motifs, while 'TNT' is a boxy beat down with rubbery electro bass which slots in perfectly on Eya. And who better to serve them up than the rightly revered Cabanne. This two-tracker kicks off with 'Karan' which is a delightfully smooth and heady late-night minimal joint with sci-fi designs and deft synth modulations. Review: Fledging but already fine young label U.Dig out of Croatia is back with more final gold, this time from a master of the form in Alexis Cabrera. He kicks off with the mini-epic that is '1997.5', a real head-melting and elastic acid tune that is perfectly deep and rolling for the freaky afters. 'Straight Up' is more punchy and taught, with low-slung drums and crisp hits powering it forward. Last of all things get brilliantly unhinged on 'Microrama,' a kinetic and densely packed cut with flappy snares blaring synths, withering melodies and a true sci-fi feel.
