Review: Here's a collaboration we didn't see coming. Nod Your Head sees talented Columbian house producer and multi-instrumentalist Felipe Gordon join forces with lesser-known beat-maker Brous One, a Germany-based Chilean renowned for serving up dusty hip-hop instrumentals. What's on offer is largely club-ready deep house jams that make the most of Gordon's skills and musicianship, though the beats and grooves are blessed with the instinctive swing of Brous One's hip-hop productions. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the languid jazziness and head-nodding house shuffle of 'Right Away', the downtempo jazz-funk sunshine of 'One For Those That Paved The Way', and the piano and synth-laden house colour 'Here We Go'.

Review: With his new album, the lauded Bogota producer Felipe Gordon assembles a collection of tender, ponderous hip-hop instrumentals inspired by 'the melancholy of a period of his life and the emotions that come with it.' While this cryptic insight could relate to a gamut of emotions from heartache to loneliness, the album's 11 tracks, including collaborations with lo-fi beats kingpins Saib and Made In M, among others, channel a timeless nostalgia which is immediately relatable. Fusing the instantly recognisable jazz lollop of many of today's 'beats to study and chill to' school with Tame Impala-esque jangle guitars and reverb clouds, Gordon delivers an anthology which truly does what it says on the tin. Review: Bogota producer Felipe Gordon seems to be in an unstoppable run of form right now. His new album Psychedelic Melancholia is just about to drop on Hip Dozer and is already much talked about, while he has also found time to turn out this fresh EP for Dutch label Clone. It opens up with the delightfully deep, dusty and Detroit-style house of 'No Words' then things get more physical but no less warm and vibes with the cursing grooves of 'Travel Through Your Mind'. 'No Words' (Byron The Aquarius dub mix) then boils things back down into a steamy dub stew and a second remix of the same tune by the American brings a little more playful and jazzy synth-funk.

Review: Felipe Gordon kicks off the new Wide Awake album with Errare Humanum Est, a second conceptual album that runs a gamut of deep house sounds. The title comes from the Latin proverb 'To err is human' which is an inspiration for Gordon who leaves the mistakes in his music. It was written in his home studio in Bogota at the end of 2022 and the start of 2023 and finds him re-visit some forgotten musical sketches to rework them and cook up a long and absorbing listen that really makes use of the long player format.

Review: Man-of-the-moment Felipe Gordon was little more than a Columbian producer with promise when he first appeared on Razor N Tape Reserve back in 2019. It's therefore nice to see him back on the Brooklyn-based imprint two years on. Those who've followed Gordon's career of late will know what to expect - namely heady, musically rich dancefloor workouts that join the dots between deep house, nu-disco and jazz-funk. Opener 'Strings of the Afterline' is pleasingly hazy and dreamy whilst boasting Gordon's usual synth-heavy squelch, while 'The Fall of a Withered Empire' is a rare vocal number with a deep jazz-house feel. Elsewhere, 'Classico' is a bouncy, classic-sounding deep house bounce-along rich in sparkling synth riffs, while 'Julia Y Lewis' is a more languid and laidback chunk of jazz-sampling, funk-fuelled deep house haziness.

Review: A regular to the Shall Not Fade output, Columbian producer Felipe Gordon returns for a collaborative EP with Belgian artist, Krewcial, for a deep dive into their shared sonic world. An ode to their shared love of cycling, this EP traverses many textures and terrains, ascending into moments of brightness and descending into deep atmospheres. The first track, '1972', kicks off with an outer casing of flecked percussion, before the introduction of a driving, hill-climbing bass line. Track number two, 'Dying', features rousing choir vocals, bringing a gospel-sensibility to the firmly funk-tied bass line. On the B-side, 'Answer' has a careening melody with hints of nostalgia, side-stepping between satisfyingly clean kick drums and brusque snares. The flip also features a remix by Session Victim - a beautifully floaty reimagining of the more grounded original. A highly multifaceted release and a strong addition to Shall No Fade's already gleaming catalogue.
